Men’s New Balance P550 sneakers designed by Aimé Leon Dore were the most sought-after product in the first quarter of this year.
That’s what the most recent edition of The Lyst Index, a report on the season’s most popular brands and items, has to say. Each quarter, the Lyst Index ranks the most popular brands based on data collected from online and offline shopping activity, product views, and sales.
Stylish New York City brand Aimé Leon Dore teamed up with sports shoe manufacturer New Balance to create the classic basketball oxford sneakers. The two brands made their joint debut in 2020 with a collection of 550 shoes that had gray, navy blue, red, and green colors. Afterward, in April 2021, a second wave of new styles was released, and in September 2021, the original colorways were restocked.
Other famous men’s fashion items on the Lyst Index include the Prada Triangle shoulder bag, the North Face 1996 Retro Nuptse jacket, the Balenciaga Defender sneakers, and the Adidas Originals Gazelle sneakers.
The Naked Wolfe knee-high-heeled boots were voted the best women’s item. TikTok has contributed to the rise in popularity of these shoes, which have also been spotted on celebrities, including Hailey Bieber, Kourtney Kardashian, and Rosala.
Next came the Moon Boot Icon nylon snow boots, the Totême embroidered scarf jacket, the Miu Miu miniskirt, and the Ugg Classic super tiny boots.
With a 108% increase in searches for the brand on Lyst from Q1 to Q3, Balenciaga has maintained its status as the world’s most popular brand for the third consecutive quarter. Miu Miu is now the tenth most popular brand, up ten places from the previous quarter, all because of the company’s viral miniskirt, which caused a 400% rise in inquiries for the company in Q2 compared to Q1.
Diesel jumped 31 places to join the top 20 brands for the very first time at number 15. Thanks to its partnership with Gucci, Adidas could also go up a few notches.
According to the Lyst Index’s executive summary, the popularity of these products and businesses reflects the influence of the current viral phenomenon on TikTok and other social media platforms, as well as the return of interest in Y2K fashion.
